Paris Saint-Germain prepared to offer lifeline to Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko – but Blues want £31m

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as shock contenders to take Tiemoue Bakayoko off Chelsea’s hands.

The French midfielder has spent the past two seasons on loan, at Milan and Monaco respectively, following his nightmare debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Bakayoko has made just 29 Premier League appearances during his three years as a Chelsea player – and very few have been remotely impressive.

The Blues, who bought him from Monaco for £40m in 2017, are desperate to cash in and reportedly want £31m for their 25-year-old flop this summer.

While it was thought they would struggle to find a buyer for Bakayoko, especially at that price, French publication Le 10 Sport claims PSG are interested.

However, the Ligue 1 giants are unwilling to spend more than £26.5m to land the France international.

Meanwhile, the Football Association’s appeal over Chelsea’s FIFA transfer ban will be heard in court next month.

The FA were fined just under £300,000 as part of the ruling, which also saw Chelsea handed a transfer ban for two windows, although their punishment was later reduced on appeal.

The Blues were therefore permitted to sign players in the January transfer window – although the west London outfit made no new signings during that period.
