The 2008 Champions League final is one which particularly springs to mind, which saw United got the better of their Premier League rivals in Moscow via a penalty shootout.

When asked which opponent was he most wary of, Cech told chelseafc.com: “Wayne Rooney. Every time we played against United I had to make sure I was aware every time he had the ball, because he was unpredictable and very clever.

“He is a guy who can chase, who can fight, who can run, who is clever with his shot. He could score from the halfway line, he could try and chip you if you were too high. That was a challenge I enjoyed.”

Cech enjoyed an illustrious career with Chelsea where he won 13 trophies over 11 season, but it came to an abrupt end in 2015 when he was allowed to leave on a free transfer.

The Czech insisted he had no regrets over what happened during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Cech added: “When I look back, I’m happy for the good things, I’m obviously not happy with the things that didn’t go exactly as we wanted, but they played an important part, so I wouldn’t change a thing.

“It was a great journey. I really enjoyed it. If I had the chance, I would do it all over again.”

Cech joined Arsenal after leaving Chelsea but is now back in west London working as the club’s technical and performance advisor following his retirement last year.
