Manchester United must give Alexis Sanchez huge loyalty payment upon return from Inter Milan loan – reports

Manchester United will be forced to pay forward Alexis Sanchez an eye-watering loyalty payment of £1.1million when he returns to Old Trafford in July.

Sanchez, 31, has spent the season on loan at Inter Milan but has struggled to make an impact due to an ankle injury.

The Chilean, who is on £505,000 a week, has scored just one goal in 15 appearances in Serie A and the Italian club have opted not to sign him on a permanent deal.

He is expected to return to Old Trafford in the summer with two years still on his deal at United.

However, The Sun reports that the Red Devils will have to give Sanchez a hefty annual cash windfall as part of the terms when he signed from Arsenal in January 2018.

Sanchez may have made his final appearance with Inter as the coronavirus crisis could cancel the 2019/20 Serie A season.

Give COVID-19 the red card

Loan players, including Sanchez, will head back to their parent clubs with financial implications and money-saving plans under way.

The report refers to how the Football Leaks scandal were the first to reveal the clauses inserted into Sanchez’s contract, including the £1.1m payment.

It’s understood he’s paid a basic salary of £375,000-a-week plus bonuses, which includes £75,000 for each first-team appearance.

An Old Trafford source told The Sun: “Everyone is aware of Alexis’ wages and there are bonuses in the contract as well.

“He hasn’t had the best of times in Italy but they are paying half of his wages as of the moment.

“We have seen the reports that they will not be looking to sign him either on a permanent deal or loan again.”

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed Sanchez would be coming back to the club for next season.

Solskjaer said Sanchez still has a future at the club even though he’s only scored four Premier League goals in United colours.
