Tottenham’s home kit for the 2020/21 season was leaked earlier this week – and now their questionable fourth strip has also allegedly emerged online.
Eyebrows were raised at the unorthodox design of the home strip when the pictures were leaked by Footy Headlines, as it moved away from Spurs’ traditional plain white shirt to include a bizarre faded grey pattern and yellow and blue zig-zag stripes down the sides.
And now the leaked fourth kit has also elicited a frosty reaction.
Nike have opted for a gradient design starting with light grey at the top and moving down to black at the hem of the shirt, though the gradient is poorly done in blocks rather than with a smooth transition.
The trim – collar, sleeves, badge and sponsors – is all yellow and does not contrast particularly well with the base colours of the jersey.
One positive design choice is the decision to place both Tottenham’s famous crest and the Nike tick in a central position, which harks back to Spurs‘ kits from the 1980s.
The gradient design is allegedly inspired by the Nike Air Max 95, a trainer which moves from light grey at the top to black at the sole.
The reaction to the leaked kit has been, shall we say, not particularly positive.
Supporters on social media have been laying into the designs and hoping the leaks are just that – leaks.
