Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba set to return for clash against Manchester City to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer welcome boost

Paul Pogba is set to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a major boost by returning from injury in time for Manchester United’s mouthwatering derby clash against their arch rivals City on December 7.

The Frenchman has missed the last nine games, but is nearing a comeback after having a cast removed from his right foot on Monday.

According to ESPN, the Manchester derby has been earmarked as a return date for the 26-year-old, who remains one of United’s key men.

Pogba’s imminent return is much needed, with a run of 12 games in just 39 days set to follow in a congested festive period, which will see Solskjaer mix and match with his squad.

Pogba hasn’t played for United since picking up the injury in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Arsenal on September 30.

The eccentric Frenchman was animated to say the least on Monday, filming his doctor removing the cast from his injured ankle on social media.

In other news, long-term absentee Eric Bailly is targeting a return to light training following the completion of the international break.

Bailly has not played since damaging knee ligaments during a pre-season friendly against Premier League rivals Tottenham in July.

The 25-year-old full-back – whose contract will expire next summer if United do not trigger a two-year extension option – is now walking without the aid of crutches.
