Seth Rollins has felt the wrath of some WWE fans and wrestling fans as a whole in recent months.
In 2019, the Architect had the kind of year that made his return to the main event scene undeniable and while nobody is saying Rollins isn’t talented, things he has said has rubbed fans up the wrong way.
For instance, when stating nobody worked at the level he does as frequently as he does – a fair assessment by the way – he countered Will Ospreay’s response by talking about the money he earns.
Wrestlers do that all the time, but it seems many people took it as arrogance.
He has taken to Twitter a few times to defend the WWE and then since he won the Universal title, the Beast Slayer has been in lacklustre storylines that haven’t help endear him to the crowd, either.
On top of all of that was the disaster finish to Sunday’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, something that was entirely concocted by Vince McMahon, but Rollins still felt the brunt for from fans.
Speaking to SI.com, his former Shield brother Roman Reigns defended Rollins and insisted he is just passionate.
“Is he passionate?” asked Reigns. “God, yes. Is he blunt? Of course, that’s why I love him. He doesn’t sugarcoat, he’s very honest, and he is passionate, and he was born for professional wrestling.
“Seth loves the WWE,” said Reigns. “That’s why some people misread some of the things he says or the ways he delivers it, but he does mean well. He’s a workhorse. Yeah, he’s a little live at the mouth sometimes, but he’s got a heart of gold, trust me.”
