Boxing news: Usyk ignores Wilder criticism, Andy Ruiz Jr will not let Anthony Joshua take cereal from his kids, ‘AJ’ beaten in rap battle by Jarrell Miller

Here is a round-up of the best of the boxing news from Monday…

Ignoring the haters

Oleksandr Usyk has said in a recent interview he is not fazed by those who believe he is too small to compete in the heavyweight division.

The former undisputed cruiserweight champion arrived in Chicago ahead of his debut in boxing’s glamour division against Tyrone Spong on October 12.

In recent weeks, both Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury have dismissed the potential threat by Usyk, but the Ukrainian has said this only motivates him more.

“Throughout my life, I have heard from many people that I will not make it. But it is not possible only for those who are not trying, I will not be listening to those who tell me ‘not to do this,” he told Matchroom.

Cereal winner

Andy Ruiz Jr has made a cereal analogy to help spur him on and stay focused to beat Anthony Joshua in their December rematch.

Back in June, Ruiz stunned the boxing world when he took Joshua’s heavyweight titles and unbeaten record and plans on retaining those belts in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to former world champion Mike Tyson on his Hotboxin’ Podcast, Ruiz said he will not let Joshua take breakfast from the mouth of his children.
“I’m just like, damn man, the guy in front of me, he’s trying to rip my head off,” said Ruiz to the former ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’, via World Boxing News.

“He’s trying to take my kids’ Cheerios away from the kitchen –  y’know, the Cornflakes.
“I’m mostly thinking about them because I don’t want to lose. I don’t want them to be disappointed. At the end of the day I fight for my kids and my family.”

“I just can’t wait for the rematch. I think that’s what’s most important now, to stay focused,” he concluded.

Miller defeats AJ

Anthony Joshua has revealed he got destroyed in a rap battle with Jarrell Miller on an episode of The Gloves Are Off.

The two men were scheduled to meet in June, but Miller was banned for six months after failing three drugs tests.

While the episode was never aired, Joshua shared exactly what happened and said

“I’m so glad our fight fell through,” Joshua joked, relieved the episode never saw the light of day.
