Tyson Fury in WWE: When Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather crashed the wrestling world before the ‘Gypsy King’

Tyson Fury made headlines this weekend by turning up at WWE SmackDown for his wrestling debut.

The ‘lineal’ heavyweight boxing champion had an altercation with Braun Strowman and is now set to return on Monday Night Raw.

However, Britain’s ‘Gypsy King’ is not the first boxer to cross over into wrestling…

Floyd Mayweather

In 2008, Mayweather took to the wrestling ring for a meeting with the Big Show.

The American pound-for-pound king famously punched his opponent in the face causing a broken nose during their initial altercation.

He then later knocked him out with brass knuckles when they had their official No Disqualification match at WrestleMania.

‘Money Mayweather‘ was reportedly paid $20million for that event and returned as a guest host for Raw the following year.

Floyd got involved in a tag team match by supplying MVP with brass knuckles to knock out Jericho.

He then celebrated with his winners.

Mike Tyson

Before Fury or Mayweather, Tyson appeared on Monday Night Raw in 1998 and brawled with Steve Austin.

He then returned at WrestleMania as a special outside enforcer for Austin’s bout with Shawn Michaels.

‘Iron Mike’ ended up knocking out Michaels after switching allegiances to side with Austin and declared him the champion.

In more recent times, Tyson appeared as a guest host on Monday Night Raw.

The 2010 event saw him make his return to the ring in a tag team match.

Mike was inducted into the celebrity section of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012.
