Gary Neville launched a scathing attack on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after he was caught laughing during the 3-1 defeat to Man City on Saturday.
The Toffees suffered their third consecutive Premier League defeat after goals from Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling sent the champions back to within five points of league-leaders Liverpool.
Marco Silva’s men forced the visitors to work hard for their victory, and the game was level for a lengthy spell when Dominic Calvert-Lewin cancelled out Jesus’ opener.
But the scoreline could’ve painted a different picture when Pickford almost gifted a fourth to Bernardo Silva when the England goalkeeper came rushing off his line late on.
Pickford was pictured laughing after the brief scare, but Neville did not see the funny side of it and also slammed the goalkeeper for his handling of Mahrez’s free-kick.

“Why is he laughing, Jordan Pickford?!” Neville said on Sky Sports. I don’t know why he finds it funny. It’s not funny!
“He should have saved the second goal and he’s nearly cost his team a fourth.”
Mahrez’s sweeping free-kick in the 71st minute gave Pep Guardiola’s men the breakthrough they were looking for.
The strike crept past Pickford in the side of the goal that he was supposed to be protecting – and the Toffees shot-stopper will certainly feel he could’ve done better.
