Jon Jones put aside his rivalry with Daniel Cormier to offer him a touching message of support following the death of his father.
Cormier, a former two-weight world champion, shared the news on social media that his father, Percy Benoit, had passed away.
”Today I lost my hero to cancer,” Cormier wrote. “My father was the bravest, strongest, hardest working and most caring person I’ve ever known. Always the life of the party and made everyone he ever came in contact with feel good.”
The tragic news comes just two weeks after Cormier lost his heavyweight title to Stipe Miocic at UFC 241, when he was knocked out in the fourth round.

Jones is considered Cormier’s biggest rival, having fought him on two occasions, first in 2015 and then again in 2017 winning both, although the second fight was later ruled a no contest when Jones tested positive for banned substances.
In 2017, Jones mother Camille, passed away following a long battle with diabetes.
Despite their long-standing feud, Jones has reached out to ‘DC’ with a message of sympathy following his loss.
“All beef aside, I’m really sorry about your loss DC. Know that he’s in heaven with the opportunity to watch you front row and center for the rest of your life. Continue living a life that makes him proud. Thoughts go out to you and your family today,” Jones wrote.
