Manchester City smashed Watford in the FA Cup final today to set up a Community Shield meeting with fierce rivals Liverpool.
Premier League champions City would have faced Watford in the Community Shield if Javi Gracia’s men could have pulled off a shock in the historic cup.
City won the traditional new season curtain raiser last term, beating Chelsea 2-0 thanks to a brace from Sergio Aguero.
And Pep Guardiola’s men did so again to make next season’s Community Shield slightly different.

Community Shield: Who is in the final?
The Community Shield sees the winners of the Premier League facing the winners of the FA Cup.
City, having already won the league, won the famous tournament 6-0 against Watford and so an alternative will be needed.
They will now face Liverpool in the Community Shield as they came Premier League runners-up.
That situation last happened in 2010 when Chelsea won the double the season before.
The Blues faced second-place Manchester United at Wembley and lost 3-1.
Community Shield: When is it?
The Community Shield signals an early start to the season for the two sides that make it.
While exacts dates have not been confirmed as of yet, it is traditionally held the weekend before the new campaign gets going which will be August 10 next season.
That would mean the Community Shield will most likely be played on August 4 at 3pm.
