The challenger had no chance of recovering in time to make the count

In the opening seconds, Wilder hurt Breazeale with a right hand on the top of the head that had him stumbling back across the ring.

However, while on his back foot, the California man smashed back at the Alabama king and returned the favour.

With both men on wobbly legs, it suddenly became a question of who recovered quickest, and it was Wilder who managed to do this.

A few seconds later, the fight was all over as he knocked out his mandatory with a classic, gigantic, pure-power right hand.

Wilder defended his WBC title for the ninth time

“Everything just came out of me tonight,” Wilder said after the finish.

“There was a lot of animosity, a lot of words that were said. It just came out tonight.”

Regarding potential bouts with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, he added: “These fights will happen, the big fights will happen.

“Good things come to those who wait.”
