Tony Bellew has told talkSPORT he is disgusted by Deontay Wilder’s recent comments in which he suggested he could ‘kill’ Dominic Breazeale in their fight on Saturday.
The ex-cruiserweight king ripped into the American, who initially stated he wants a ‘body’ on his record during a media day in which he also pointed out that boxing ‘is the only sport where you can kill a man and get paid for it at the same time.’
He concluded: “It’s legal, so why not use my right to do so?”
Bellew gave his opinion on Drivetime: “He’s a plant pot, that’s what he is. He’s a first class plant pot… It’s absolutely disgusting what he’s saying.
“He’s an absolute moron of the highest order and he’s the one thing boxing doesn’t need right now.
“There’s enough casualties in the boxing world, there’s enough cheats in the boxing world with drugs, without this moron going on and saying the things he’s saying.
“Let’s touch wood and pray to whoever’s listening that nothing happens at all to Dominic Breazeale.
“But could you imagine if something did? He’s got children.
“How’s he gonna explain that to Dominic Breazeale’s children?”
While Bellew fortunately avoided being involved in any horrific tragedies during his career, which came to an end last year, he didn’t make it through without being threatened.
David Haye infamously told the world how he was planning to put the Scouser in a coma before their 2017 fight, in which Bellew emerged victorious against all odds.
“There’s always got to be a good guy and a bad guy and this guy just wants to be the bad guy,” he continued.
“He’s a pantomime villain. I’ve actually met him a couple of times and he’s not – I know it’s hard to believe – but he’s actually not that kind of guy…
“I just think he’s purely saying it to generate hype. I don’t genuinely believe he wants to do this or believes what he’s saying – that he wants a body on his record.
“It’s just disgusting. I don’t even like repeating it because it makes me feel sick to be honest.
“I’ve been in many big fights against dangerous opponents. I haven’t had such things like that said at me.
“I’ve had similar things said about guys wanting to leave me in a coma and stuff.

“And the guy who said that to me, which was quite funny, he was the guy who ended up in hospital that night.
“So hopefully this backfires on Deontay Wilder and he’s the guy who goes to hospital with a slight headache and learns from his comments.
“The sooner the sport is rid of this clown, the better in my opinion.
