Drew McIntyre, Cesaro and Rusev all address rumours that Sheamus is retiring from WWE

The ongoing rumours around Sheamus’ future in the wrestling business are yet to be resolved.

With several outlets reporting that the 41-year-old is suffering with spinal stenosis – the same injury that cost WWE Hall of Famer Edge his career – it seemed as if the Irishman was on borrowed time.

Sean Ross Sapp reported that the hope around the locker room was that WWE Sheamus would make it through WrestleMania. He did that and even competed on the SmackDown after.

However, he hasn’t been seen since and despite being in the best shape of his life, it’s believed his neck is preventing him from competing.

However, several of his closest friends in the WWE have refuted those reports.

Drew McIntyre came up with Sheamus in the business and the Drew Galloway Vs Sheamus O’Shaughnessy feud put UK wrestling on the map at a time where it had gone cold.

Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, McIntyre said ‘I wouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet,’ check out the video below:

Rusev and Lana have also had their say on the matter and the Bulgarian Brute used to be in the League of Nations with Sheamus. He flatly denies the rumour.

“What happened to Sheamus? He’s in the best shape of his life. Have you seen him? He’s like down to 205 pounds, no he’s about 230 or whatever — Sheamy I’m sorry.”

“No, he’s in the best shape of his life. He lives eight houses down from our house so I see him every day. We watch football every day.”

“He’s fine, he’s nowhere near the end of his career.”

talkSPORT also spoke to Cesaro during his stay in the UK and he told us Sheamus is focusing on the Intercontinental title – the only title he is yet to win in WWE – and not retiring.

Expanding on that, Cesaro told the Daily Express what Sheamus is up to and it doesn’t seem like the end.

“I have no clue about his return date,” Cesaro said. “I know he’s doing great, I know he just built his Celtic Warrior home gym that he had painted orange in nice Celtic Warrior-y colours. He’s one of the hardest workers I know and he’s making the most out of his time. So you should probably check his YouTube channel for updates, I’m sure he will let everybody know once he knows exactly what’s happening.”
