Forget George Groves, fight GGG – Gennady Golovkin’s promoter reacts to Carl Froch comeback talk

Carl Froch has been teased with the prospect of a phenomenal comeback fight against Gennady Golovkin.

The retired, former three-time super-middleweight world champion has made multiple comments over the past couple of weeks in which he’s admitted to being tempted by the idea of a ring return.

At first he toyed with the idea of a trilogy fight against old foe George Groves, however now Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler has floated another idea.

Loeffler attempted to make Froch vs GGG with promoter Eddie Hearn not long after the Brit’s retirement in 2015/16.

However, for various reasons, including Carl’s recent nose job, the bout didn’t come to fruition and GGG later ended up fighting Kell Brook in the UK instead.

When asked about Froch’s latest comeback talk, the promoter told iFL TV: “That’s a fight we’ve been trying to get for ‘Triple-G’.

“Now with these new economics in boxing, maybe that’s enough for Carl.

“One of the caveats Eddie said was he had just straightened his nose and he didn’t want to have it crooked again.

“But look, ‘Triple-G’ and Carl Froch at Wembley Stadium, that’d be huge.

“Then he could say 90,000 fans instead of 80,000 which would be great.”
