OK Ladies and Gentlemen, lets all walk into Formation because very soon, you’ll be wearing Beyonce’ sneakers.
The pop star and Adidas on Thursday announced a “multi-layered partnership”, which will feature a relaunch of her Ivy Park clothing line and original product releases from the brand. As part of the deal, Knowles will become a creative partner for the company, developing new footwear and clothes for Adidas.
“This is the partnership of a lifetime for me,” Beyoncé said in a press release. “[A]didas has had tremendous success in pushing creative boundaries. We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of business. I look forward to re-launching and expanding Ivy Park on a truly global scale with a proven, dynamic leader.”
Her Ivy Park collection launched at Topshop in April 2016 as a joint venture. Products ranged from $25 tank tops to $265 full-length body suits. The pop star and entrepreneur will retain ownership of Ivy Park. Adidas added that the partnership “respects Beyoncé’s ownership of her company which continues her journey as one of the first black women to be the sole owner of an athleisure brand.”
Last July, Forbes estimated that Ms. Knowles was worth $355 million, citing her most recent solo album, “Lemonade,” her million-dollar-grossing tour with her husband Jay-Z and the value of her stake in his streaming service, Tidal.
