The first round saw Nelson score a takedown early but Edwards battled back fantastically well to reverse that position and gran the initiative.

However, when both men were on their feet, they failed to land any significant strikes and take control.

Into the second round and Nelson began trying to force the issue but Edwards hit a nice left hook to remind the Icelandic fighter what he can do.

Edwards dropped Nelson with a left elbow at the end of the second round and mounted his foe, scoring plenty of unanswered strikes in the process. The referee was within seconds of calling the fight, but Nelson managed to cover up and was saved by the bell.

Nelson appeared to regain his bearing for the third and final round, but his takedown attempts on the determined Edwards were failing to get the job done.

With just over a minute remaining in the final round, Nelson scored the takedown he so desperately sought on Edwards and the fight seemed to be in his hands.

However, Edwards rode the fight out and won the fight via split decision and score the biggest win of his career.

After the fight, he called out Darren Till once more for a big domestic showdown…
