The Champions League quarter-final and semi-final draws have been done and it’s fair to say Liverpool fans will be the happiest of all the teams in Europe.
This is because they’ve been drawn with Porto, who are viewed by many as the softest team remaining, in the last eight.
Full Champions League quarter and semi-final draw
The Reds will play Porto at Anfield on either April 9th or 10th before going to the Estadio do Drago on April 16th or 17th.
The club will also breathe a huge sigh of relief as left-back Andy Robertson, who is suspended for the first leg, will not be absent against a more stern opponent.
The draw also triggered happy memories of Liverpool’s memorable European campaign last season, which saw Jurgen Klopp’s men batter the Portuguese club 5-0 on their home turf in the last-16 tie.
Should Liverpool get past Porto, they will play the winner of the Manchester United vs Barcelona tie in the semi-finals – a mouthwatering prospect.
Of course, Liverpool are professional footballers, so will always say they will not be taking Porto for granted and Klopp has said his players will “respect the opponent”.
It’s a different story for the supporters, however, who are convinced Liverpool’s place in the last four is assured.
