Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder: DAZN talks ‘went well’ as Wilder promises to knockout Dominic Breazeale

Deontay Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel has revealed initial talks with DAZN “went well” ahead of the heavyweight potentially signing with the US broadcaster.

The streaming service want to recruit the WBC champion so they can put together an undisputed title fight with Britain’s Anthony Joshua at the end of 2019.

On Tuesday, Wilder’s team met with DAZN Executive Chairman John Skipper to discuss an agreement which would see the American defend his WBC belt against Dominic Breazeale before then facing AJ.

“We did [meet],” Finkel told ESPN., “But nothing was resolved and internally we are going to continue to talk about it and then we will get back to them, but it went well.”

The WBC recently ordered Deontay Wilder to meet mandatory challenger Breazeale after Tyson Fury opted out of their immediate rematch.

This bout was originally planned for a May date on Wilder’s usual broadcaster Showtime, however now DAZN have made a play to secure his signature.

When asked what to expect from his upcoming fight, the 33-year-old told JMG Lifestyle: “A knockout. Hopefully it’ll be around mid-May in Vegas or Brooklyn.”
