Aston Villa star Jack Grealish was today assaulted by a Birmingham City supporter during the Second City derby.
In the early stages of the match a fan made his way onto the pitch and struck Grealish around the head, before being forced off by stewards.
The man has since been arrested by West Midlands Police, and Birmingham have condemned the attack as ‘deplorable and disgusting’.
It is believed the club will also personally apologise to Grealish for their supporter’s actions.
The intruder was blowing kisses to the crowd as he was escorted off, and was being cheered by a section of the Birmingham support.
talkSPORT 2 was bringing live commentary of Sunday’s derby from St Andrews, with Nigel Pearson and Matt Murray calling all the action in the Championship clash.
And you can listen to their live commentary of the horrific incident, above.
