Tottenham Hotspur news: Mauricio Pochettino ‘would love to return’ to Spain return amidst interest from Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he is open to a return to Spain one day amid speculation linking him with the Real Madrid job.

Los Blancos are enduring a torrid season – they are 12 points behind their bitter rivals Barcelona in LaLiga and crashed out of the Champions League to Ajax in midweek.

Their current boss Santiago Solari is expected to step down at the end of the season and there has been months of speculation linking Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and most recently Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to the Bernebeu hot-seat.

And the Argentine, 47, who managed Espanyol from 1992-2002, has insisted he would welcome a return to management in Spain.

Speaking to Spanish TV network RTVE, he said: “My relationship with Spain will always be great and I would love to return one day and oversee a style of football that could win games and excite people.

“Of course I would come back to Spain, I’m always open to new experiences and projects.”

Earlier this week, Italian sports outlet Tuttomercatoweb reported that the Bernebeu hierarchy are set to make a £145million bid to bring both Poch and striker Harry Kane to the Spanish capital.

And when quizzed about the rumours, Pochettino said he flattered by the speculation but tight-lipped on if there was any truths in the reports.

Some reports in Italy have said Real are preparing a double-swoop for Poch and Kane

“I take it (Madrid’s interest) as something positive, it means someone has noticed that we are doing something right,” he stated.

“If I answer that my chairman (Daniel Levy) will get very angry with me for doing this interview. Or perhaps he won’t mind,” said the boss.

“Harry is like my son, he has made his name with us, he’s one of the best strikers in the world.”
