Solskjaer will give starts to Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in a number of changes from the side that beat Newcastle last time out.

His defensive options are limited by injuries to Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo while Eric Bailly is suspended and Paul Pogba is a doubt following a challenge from Jonjo Shelvey on Wednesday.

The likes of Sergio Romero, Marouane Fellaini, Andreas Pereira, Fred, Matteo Darmian, Scott McTominay, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes could all come into contention.

Reading’s ex-United defender John O’Shea should start.
