Harry Redknapp believes Jermain Defoe will be a HUGE hit at Rangers, as the striker prepares for his loan move to Ibrox.
The 36-year-old former England hitman is set to join Steven Gerrard’s side on an 18-month loan deal from Bournemouth, having struggled for game time this season in the Premier League.
He will undergo a medical over the weekend and, speaking to talkSPORT host Jim White on Friday morning, Defoe said he is delighted with the move and can’t wait to get started.
He will join a Rangers team aiming to overthrow Old Firm rivals Celtic as champions of Scotland, and one man who knows just how much of an impact he can make at a new club is Harry Redknapp.
The veteran manager coached the striker at THREE clubs – West Ham, Portsmouth and Tottenham – and he predicts Defoe will score plenty of goals when he moves north of the border.
Speaking on Friday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Redknapp said: “It’s an amazing signing.
“The little man is as fit as a fiddle. He’s an unbelievable professional, he lives right, he doesn’t drink and he is super fit.
“I really think he can go up there and score a lot of goals.
“I think Jermain will be amazing up there for Rangers.”
