Dillian Whyte seemingly believes Anthony Joshua will fight Jarrell Miller in New York next, rather than rematch him at Wembley Stadium.
The Brixton man is widely thought to be leading the race to be AJ’s next opponent on April 13 at Wembley, with Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury in talks over a rematch.
Promoter Eddie Hearn even recently declared that Whyte is the “frontrunner,” however the fighter insists he has not held any talks over the fight following his win over Dereck Chisora on December 22.
When asked for a latest update on the situation with Joshua, Whyte told IFLTV: “I have no idea. I don’t know what’s going on. I expected him and his team to have at least contacted me.
“I’m not meeting Eddie until another two weeks. That’s not enough time to prepare for a fight like that.
“You need to know what’s going on so you start preparing from now. I need to know what I’m doing now, why at the end of the month?
“I’m meant to be meeting him [Eddie Hearn], I think the 14th/15th.”
While Dillian Whyte appears the most likely opponent for Anthony Joshua’s locked in date on April 13 at Wembley, an alternative option has arisen.
AJ was ringside to watch Canelo Alvarez pick apart Rocky Fielding in the famous Madison Square Garden Arena in New York in December, and attention began to turn to a potential US debut for the unified heavyweight champion.
American contender Jarrell Miller has been earmarked as the ideal opponent for this occasion and Dillian Whyte says he’s heard rumours that Joshua will move off his April 13 Wembley date to head to New York instead.
The ‘Body Snatcher’ continued: “Rumour has it that Joshua’s gonna fight Miller in Madison Square Garden, so let’s see.
“It’s a small world and a lot of things you hear in boxing there’s usually a massive amount of truth to it.”
