The Reds go to the Etihad Stadium with their unbeaten record intact, knowing that a win will extend their lead over City to ten points and their overall lead at the top of the table to nine.
Many are tipping it to be a potential title-deciding encounter, although at only the halfway stage it is realistically far too early to tell.
But Anfield legend Rush believes Jurgen Klopp’s ‘magnificent’ team already have the psychological edge over their rivals thanks to their peerless form this season.
Speaking on Thursday’s Sports Breakfast, the Welshman said: “It’s going to be very difficult because Manchester City are the best team squad-wise, but the form Liverpool are in is absolutely magnificent.
“It’s all about confidence. Manchester City are back to winning ways now but the way Liverpool play is fantastic.
“I just look at it now and I think Manchester City are a little bit scared.
“It’s think it’s going to be one hell of a game.”
