Fulham are reportedly on the verge of winning the race to sign Chelsea’s Gary Cahill.
The 33-year-old is understood to be seen by manager Claudio Ranieri as a potential solution to their defensive problems with the side having kept just two clean sheets so far this season.
According to The Sun, Cahill may head to Craven Cottage on loan for the second half of 2018/19, if a permanent deal is not agreed between the clubs.
His Chelsea contract runs out at the end of the current campaign and he’s been seriously struggling for game time under new manager Maurizio Sarri.
The Englishman has played just once in the Premier League this season – as a substitute – hence why a move to a side in need of defensive improvements seems attractive.
On New Year’s Day, Fulham were beaten 4-1 by Arsenal at the Emirates, meaning that they have now conceded 47 goals in 21 games this season.
