Championship 2018/19 team of the season: The best players in the second tier so far based on stats

The 2018/19 Championship season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in years.

The upper reaches of the table seem to change on a weekly basis, while a good eight teams can be considered serious contenders for relegation.

Leeds United currently top the pile on the opening day of 2019, having looked so, so impressive under manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Norwich are just three points behind in second, with all of West Brom, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Derby angling for automatic promotion.

A number of sides are sitting slightly lower, but with loads of the season to go there is no reason why the likes of Birmingham, Aston Villa or even Swansea could not make the play-offs.

All these teams have been fired on by a host of brilliantly performing players, including free-scoring strikers, remarkably creative midfielders, and impassable defenders.
