Tottenham have proven they had no need to sign any new players in the summer transfer window, as they are already strong enough to challenge for the Premier League title.
That’s according to former manager Harry Redknapp, who has tipped Spurs to battle Liverpool and Manchester City for the crown this season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side showed off their title ambitions with an emphatic 6-2 victory at Everton on Sunday which guaranteed their place in the top three at Christmas.
They were at their clinical best against the Toffees, with Harry Kane and Heung-min Son each scoring twice, with further goals from Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
Spurs now sit just two points behind defending champions Manchester City and are six adrift of leaders Liverpool.
The north London side were ridiculed in the summer after they ended the transfer window without making a single new signing – the first Premier League club in history to do so.
But they have answered their doubters with a sublime campaign so far, having yet to draw a game as they approach the half-way stage.
MORE: ‘Don’t write off Tottenham for the Premier League title this season’, says Arsenal legend
Asked if he sees Tottenham as title contenders this season, the former boss told Monday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “I do.
“They’ve got a good squad.
“I know they didn’t buy and everyone was going about it in the summer, but if you go through their squad they’ve got options everywhere.
“You look at the boy Son – what a player he is – they change the full-back continuously, they’ve got cover at centre-half, they’re overloaded with plenty of midfield players and even Sissoko has come back to life this year.
