Cristiano Ronaldo revealed he was once threatened by Roma players during a Champions League match as Manchester United tore the Serie A side apart.
Now with Juventus, Ronaldo will line up against Roma on Saturday with the aim of preserving his side’s unbeaten league run and extending their lead at the top of Serie A.
But back in 2007, Ronaldo was a thorn in Roma’s side. in a quarter-final tie United won 7-1.
Having lost the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico 2-1, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men stepped it up a gear in the return fixture, taking a 4-0 half-time lead and eventually running out 7-1 winners with Ronaldo netting twice.
Such was their dominance, the five time Ballon dO’r winner claims several Roma players made a number of remarks to him throughout.
“When it was 6-0, they asked me to stop, an opponent begged me to stop dribbling,” Ronaldo said.
“Others threatened to hurt me.
“Roma? There is no player with whom I would exchange a shirt.”
Ronaldo also scored the last time he played against Roma when Real Madrid won 2-0 in a Champions League win in March 2016.
