A separate incident saw Alli hit by a plastic bottle thrown from the home supporters and responding with a gesture to remind them his team were 2-0 ahead.

The home side claim to have now identified the individual who threw the object and issued a statement on Thursday to say they are liaising with police to apprehend the culprit.

Averof Panteli admitted hurling the banana onto the pitch at the Emirates Stadium after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored against Tottenham

Earlier this month, the sides met in the Premier League at the Emirates, with Arsenal emerging as 4-2 victors.

In that match, a banana skin was thrown in the direction of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by an away supporter who was subsequently fined £500 and given a four-year football banning order.

Both teams were also fined for failing to control their players during the celebrations after Eric Dier’s goal.
