Dele Alli was struck on the head by a plastic bottle during Tottenham’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.
The England ace, who netted his side’s second goal in the 2-0 win at the Emirates, was hit by the object with just over 20 minutes left.
Alli was by the touchline after the ball had gone out of play, in front of Arsenal supporters, when the incident occurred.
The 22-year-old responded by holding up two fingers to signal the 2-0 scoreline to Arsenal fans and was subsequently spoken to by referee Jon Moss.
Arsenal are analysing CCTV in a bid to identify the supporter who threw the bottle.
Alli played an influential part in proceedings at the Emirates, supplying the opener for Son in the first half before producing a sublime finish to double Tottenham’s lead on the hour mark.
