Could Antonio Conte become Manchester United’s next permanent manager?

And Conte, who has been linked with the United job since leaving Chelsea earlier this year, is interested in the position, The Telegraph claim.

He is ready to return to work prior to the start of 2019/20, with the Italian staying away from the game for the entirety of this season. Legal disputes continue over his departure from Chelsea, and Conte is believed to have turned down two approaches from Real Madrid to sort out his problems with the Blues.

Conte is an attractive option for United seeing as he has already succeeded Mourinho previously, taking charge of Chelsea seven months after the Portuguese was sacked by the Stamford Bridge club.

He guided the Blues to Premier League success in his debut season, and won the FA Cup the following year, before being sacked early during this pre-season.
