Manchester United are still on the hunt for Sir Alex Ferguson’s long-term successor after Jose Mourinho became the latest manager to lose his job at Old Trafford.
The club announced the Portuguese has left United with immediate effect after overseeing their worst start to a top-flight season since 1990.
He leaves the Red Devils sixth in the table and 19 points behind league-leaders Liverpool, who played United off the park in their 3-1 victory on Sunday.
This is not what United had planned when they offered David Moyes a six-year contract just over five-years ago.
The Scotsman’s original deal, which he signed after replacing Sir Alex in 2013, would still be running to this day.
But instead, United find themselves looking for their fourth permanent manager since the Fergie era.
Here are a few other things that have happened during Moyes’ contract:
David Moyes has had three jobs, two sackings and a relegation
Daenerys finally made it to Westeros in Game of Thrones
Bayern Munich have scored 21 goals against Arsenal
Everyone started and (thankfully) stopped doing the Harlem Shake
England have had three managers, been knocked out of the Euros by Iceland and finished fourth at the World Cup
The words ‘selfie’ and ‘twerk’ have been invented
Burnley have been promoted, relegated, promoted again and qualified for European football
Real Madrid have won the Champions League four times
