Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has said good riddance to Jose Mourinho, saying the manager was ‘never right’ for the club.
Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday morning after two-and-a-half years in charge at Old Trafford.
His departure comes after a 3-1 defeat to fierce rivals Liverpool confirmed their worst ever start to a Premier League season.

The Red Devils are currently sixth in the table, 19 points off Liverpool in the top spot and 11 points adrift of the top four.
United are now set to appoint a caretaker boss for the remainder of the season as they search for their FOURTH permanent coach since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson 2013.
And Parker, who has been highly critical of Mourinho throughout his tenure, says the club made a big mistake by hiring the ‘Special One’ in the first place.
Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, the former England defender said: “He wasn’t right. I said it before he got the job, I said it quite early when he got into the job and I’m saying it now…
“He was never right for Manchester United on and off the pitch. I think everyone saw that in the end with the way he was, the way he conducted himself.
“It always worried me about how they were going to play under Mourinho.
“If you sat and watched every team he managed, it was destructive football. He would match teams, he wouldn’t try and beat them and create, because he wasn’t a creative manager, he was a destructive manager.
Jose Mourinho's record as Manchester United manager
Win percentage: 58.33
Trophies: EFL Cup (2017); Europa League (2017)
“He was never going to play any football Manchester United fans – and I mean real Manchester United fans – wanted to see.
“People can come out and say, ‘he’s a winner’, but what does that mean?
“Does that mean United were just going to try and win trophies no matter how, and have no swagger and no style? Lose everything they’ve built up over the years?

“Football isn’t like that anymore and we’re seeing that with what’s happening at Manchester City, we may be seeing something begin at Liverpool and we may be seeing something begin at Tottenham, too, once they get into their new stadium, because they’re building very well with young players.”
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is among the early favourites for the job with bookmakers following Mourinho’s departure.
And Parker says the Spurs boss would be a big improvement on Mourinho.
He added: “Pochettino? The man improves players… and that hasn’t happened at Manchester United.”
