Solanke, 21, is highly rated by Jurgen Klopp but is yet to feature this season, only making the Reds’ matchday squad once – for the Carabao Cup tie against his old club Chelsea in September.

Scottish giants Rangers, managed by former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, were linked with a move for the one-cap England international in the summer and there has been recent speculation they are ready to make a new move in January.

But, according to the London Evening Standard, Palace boss Roy Hodgson is hoping to convince Solanke to spend the second half of the season in the Premier League at Selhurst Park.

His England teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek starred on loan at Palace last season before returning to Chelsea, and Hodgson hopes his success in south London convinces Solanke to follow his path.

Palace are in desperate need of firepower – they have scored just 14 goals in 17 games this season and are sitting only three points above the relegation zone.
